Your Alumni Stories
Story Guide
A good story could be 5,000 or 5 words—a brilliant photograph or a short recording. Whatever your story is, we want to share it, so feel free to browse this guidance, and use it as you wish.
Are you ready to tell your story, but unsure where to start?
This guide is meant to help inspire the story teller inside us all, and provide practical advice for those who aren’t quite sure how to take that first step.
Check back frequently as our volunteers augment and grow the resources offered here. And if you want to ask a specific question, just use our contact page to send a note, or hit us up on one of the CBYX socials.
A picture is worth a thousand words
Sometimes all you need to do is dig out that old photo album or shoe box! Or maybe just go through the camera roll on your phone (sigh, we know—it’s a lot).
Read more about getting your photos ready and sending them to Alumni Stories.
Can I get an assist?
It all begins with a spark or memory. But sometimes, it can feel more like rubbing two rocks together in your brain when you stare at that blank screen.
Whether you need a little help writing down your ideas, or just want a jumping-off point, we have prompts to give you inspiration for clearing the mental cobwebs.
Raise your voice
Perhaps you’d rather just tell your story aloud. If recording your story like a podcast is more your style, check out resources for getting started.
Means of production
To help everyone who wants to share their story access the tools they need, CBYX Alumni Association will have a some tools available borrow. They are being set up to help you create and/or capture digital media of various kinds, including recording equipment, iPads and lighting. If you need help digitizing photos, recording, writing essays, creating video, and much more, please reach out.
As the kits become available more information will be posted here about how to borrow and use an Alumni Stories Story Kit and what tools are available.
